Panic-dressing.

Another college week is ending, and yet again I have no clue where it's gone. Seriously. I may have short term memory loss or something, but I cannot believe that another whole week has gone by. Time is the one thing I need, and it is ticking by too fast. My teachers are actually counting down to the exams now - I, personally, am too terrified to contemplate them right now. Yet again today, I channelled all my nervous energy into my outfit and ended up with party-wear..

Shirt - River Island; Dress & Ring - H&M; Belt & Socks - Primark; Shoes - New Look; Bracelet & Necklace - Accessorize; Earrings - Topshop.

I had worn this dress to a party a while ago (here) and loved how glamorous it was, considering the simple cut. Now of course, there is no way it was going to appear at another party any time soon, but I like it too much just to commit it to the back of my wardrobe for a season or two.. so I decided to dress it down for day with my oversized pale denim shirt. Denim is a hot fabric for SS'12, and I think the paler the better, as it taps into the pastels trend a little & is more interesting than dark denim. I then threw on some over-the-knee socks (which were a pain all day!), cinched in my waist to give myself some kind of figure and accessorized with a few carefully chosen gold pieces & a slick of lipstick. I also opted for half-up hair because I do get sick to death of having the same hairstyle day in day out! I'm not going to lie, I was cold today. But now it is March it is definitely Spring, therefore the coats can be packed away for another year, and I am diving headlong into transitional looks that will see me through to summer.

"Are you going to a party instead of college?"

Those were the words my mum greeted me with as I emerged from my room in my usual haze of lipstick, perfume and sleep, dragging my college bag behind me. And to be fair, I did then look in the mirror and realise I looked more like a Saturday night than a Thursday morning.. But there was no way I was changing! For no apparent reason, other than it being the first of the month, I decided to dress up, up, up today. Oh, and first of March? Someone please tell me where on Earth 2012 is going. I seem to have barely any time left in college before exam season, then it is off to the big wide world.. Since that thought is causing me no end of mini heart attacks (so much work to do, so little time!), I am thinking that maybe I channelled my feelings into looking as good as possible..

Blazer & Ring - ASOS; Skirt - H&M; Top, Tights & Shoes - New Look; Bracelet - Pandora; Earrings - present from a friend.

I saw this orange top in the back of my drawer a few days ago, and realised I hadn't worn it in a good while.. So of course when dreaming up today's outfit it leaped to the forefront of my mind. Super-brights are a vital part of my Spring wardrobe, so this top is making a welcome reappearance. Since it is quite loosely cut though, I styled it up by tucking it in to my sequin skirt, then added a cute print with my starry tights and topped it all off with my much-worn, much-abused blazer & a slick of popping pink lipstick. There is a part of me that feels too overdressed for college, but a larger part of me just does not care. For me, fashion right now is all about bending the rules, whether it be clashing your prints, working the old faux pas colour combinations (red and pink, black and navy.. all totally cool at the moment) or simply making party-wear work for day.
